NJIT's Computer Science Program Ranked #2 in the World
NJIT is also the only university outside of Asia and Australia to make the top 10.
To create their list, CWUR measures the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of their research without relying on surveys and university data submissions.
The ranking started out as a project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2012 with the aim of rating the top 100 global universities. In 2014, the ranking expanded to list the top 1000 out of 25,000+ degree-granting institutions of higher education worldwide, making it the largest academic ranking of global universities.
"I'm happy to see that the work and creativity of my colleagues is internationally recognized,” said Cristian Borcea, professor and chair of NJIT’s Computer Science Department, which is housed in Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC). “The CS department's world-class faculty and multifaceted research efforts continue to raise NJIT's profile as a champion of bold ideas in service of its students."
YWCC encompasses more than a quarter of NJIT’s student population and boasts the largest computer science program among all research universities in the New York metropolitan area.
