Dean’s Scholars Program in YWCC
Become A Dean's Scholar!
The Dean’s Scholars Program is an academic honors program housed within the Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC). Dean’s Scholars receive a distinctive honors education and opportunities from YWCC including:
- Honors courses within the Ying Wu College of Computing
- Professional networking with distinguished speakers and industry leaders
- Honors advising through the Ying Wu College of Computing
- Funding opportunities for research and travel
- Priority consideration for admission to the Albert Dorman Honors College through sophomore year. Dean’s Scholars can choose to apply to become a Dorman Scholar after the completion of their first or second year. Seats are limited and the application process is competitive, but applications from Dean’s Scholars will be given priority consideration during their evaluations.
How to apply?
To be considered, prospective students should apply through the Albert Dorman Honors College application on the Common Application by checking the box, “Are you interested in the Albert Dorman Honors College?”
Program requirements:
Requirements of the YWCC Dean Scholars Program include:
- Maintaining a 3.2 CGPA (for those starting their YWCC degree program in Spring 2024 and after).
- Taking at least three honors-only courses offered by YWCC
- Attending at least one ADHC colloquium/guest speaker per semester (YWCC Dean’s Scholars are encouraged to attend co-sponsored ADHC-YWCC speaker events)

Albert Dorman Honor’s College reviews more than 3,000 applications per year. In the common application, applicants can choose to apply to be a Dorman Scholar, a Dean’s Scholar, or both.

Funding opportunities for research and travel
Dean’s Scholars are eligible to apply for research funding through URI (Undergraduate Research and Innovation) programs: https://centers.njit.edu/uri/programs/index.php
