Costs

Projects funded by public or private entities should cover the full cost of the activity, including direct and facilities and administrative (F &A) costs. Cost for each project varies depending on the duration, complexity and personnel.

NJIT will have no IP claims, resulting in the company owning all IP generated in the engagements.

Intellectual Property
NJTPA (NJ Transportation Planning Authority) has a multi-year relationship sponsoring R&D projects at NJIT, ranging from recommender systems using learning and topic models, virtual/augmented reality to demonstrate distracted driving and behavior at roundabouts as well as creating sidewalk inventory using image analysis.

UPS
Both parties should have the freedom to publicize the partnerships. Industry will benefit by showing that it provides opportunities for continuous growth and training as well as access to and interaction with research leaders. NJIT will gain visibility for working with industry and having faculty/students applying research and advanced technologies to real-world problems.

Visibility
Hearst employees participated in an on-site training in the fast-growing area of data science. Designed specifically for Hearst Magazines, the courses help employees glean insights from Hearst’s proprietary information to develop a deeper connection with its audience and customers. Topics include, fundamentals of data analytics, data visualization and data privacy.

Publication
NJIT will submit any proposed publication by faculty and students to the industry partner for approval and proceed with publication if approved or with proposed modifications. The tacit understanding is that the approval will not be unreasonably withheld by the industry partner.
