The undergraduate and graduate catalogs contain a wealth of information about which courses to take as well as recommended electives.
1. Decide on the graduate program you wish to pursue. All YWCC Programs can be seen here
2. Apply using the "Dual Enrollment Application BS/MS" in your Highlander Pipeline account (Note you must have at least Junior standing and a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 in order to be eligible for this program).
3. Typically it takes at least a month for the application to be processed by Admissions. If you do not hear back from Admissions within a month of your application date, please follow up with your assigned undergraduate academic advisor.
4. Once you are processed by Admissions, you will need to identify the course(s) you want to take.
a) Ensure that class meets the requirements of undergraduate and graduate level.
b) Ensure you have met the prerequisite to register for the class .
c) Visit this website. Scroll down to "Approval for Undergraduate to Register for Graduate Courses - (BS/MS)" and click that link to access the necessary form.
d) After you complete the form, please send it to ywcc-bsms@njit.edu to be processed.
e) Registration for BS/MS will begin 2 weeks after the start of registration for the following term. Please do not send your forms prior to that date.
-
Note that if your cumulative GPA is between a 3.0-3.49 you will be eligible to take a maximum of 2 graduate level classes for the entirety of your program. If your cumulative GPA is a 3.5 or higher you can take a maximum of 3 graduate level classes for the entirety of your program. We approve classes at the time of registration. Therefore if you start the BS/MS program with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 but your cumulative GPA drops under a 3.0 after that semester you are no longer eligible for the program until your cumulative GPA is at or above 3.0 again.
5. YWCC Advisors will process the form as long as it is a course that can count for both your undergraduate and graduate program and is in line with the program you applied for (this means that if you applied to the MS Online program, you’ll be eligible to take classes for virtual campus students only.) If you apply to the MS Newark program, you are only able to take face-to-face courses. Additionally, the form can only be processed for an open course. Undergraduate students can not be added to a graduate waitlist. YWCC Advisors will send the completed form back to you.
- if you are an undergraduate student outside of YWCC please confirm with your assigned undergraduate advisor where this course will count towards your undergraduate degree.
6. You will need to email Registrar@njit.edu requesting they add you to the course. Make sure you attach the completed form in the email. Make sure you also CC ywcc-bsms@njit.edu on the email request to the Registrar's office.
7. The form will be processed by the Registrar's Office and they will register you for the course and make a note in your file that the course counts toward both UG and GR credit.
Students who have applied to the five year BSMS program below are a list of graduate classes that you can register in place of your undergraduate requirements. Please ensure that you read the BSMS process for YWCC before registering.
