Taking Courses at Another College

Prior written approval must be secured before taking courses outside of NJIT.

Advising

Transfer credit policies vary depending on the department offering the equivalent course at NJIT.

Computer Science:

  1. A student is allowed to take an equivalent of a CS course outside NJIT only in rare situations. For example, when it is the last course required for graduation and it is not currently offered at NJIT.
  2. The only Community College courses allowed are those listed as equivalent in njtransfer.org
  3. Either the CS Associate Chair or the CS Chair has to approve the course equivalency before taking the course.

Information Systems:

  1. A student is allowed to take an equivalent of an IS course outside NJIT only if the course is not offered at NJIT during that semester
  2. Students are only permitted to take 100 and 200-level courses at another institution.
