Transfer credit policies vary depending on the department offering the equivalent course at NJIT.
Computer Science:
A student is allowed to take an equivalent of a CS course outside NJIT only in rare situations. For example, when it is the last course required for graduation and it is not currently offered at NJIT.
The only Community College courses allowed are those listed as equivalent in njtransfer.org
Either the CS Associate Chair or the CS Chair has to approve the course equivalency before taking the course.
Information Systems:
A student is allowed to take an equivalent of an IS course outside NJIT only if the course is not offered at NJIT during that semester
Students are only permitted to take 100 and 200-level courses at another institution.
Undergraduate students interested in taking courses at another school should complete the Approval for Undergraduate Courses at Other Colleges form. Please submit the form to the appropriate department that offers the equivalent NJIT course. At the completion of the course, submit your transcript to the NJIT Registrar - Attention Patrick Fields.
Failure to secure the necessary approvals will result in the class not being accepted for transfer credit.
