The Ying Wu College of Computing wants to ensure that you have a successful transition to your major; therefore, all students must demonstrate proficiency in the material covered in CS 100 Roadmap to Computing.
There are two ways to accomplish this:
Take CS 100 at NJIT or
Take the CS 100 Credit By Exam and score 80% or better. The exam is offered three times per year, at the end of the Fall/Spring/Summer semesters.
Exam Information
You may attempt the Credit by Exam only once. Students who have already enrolled in CS 100 in a prior semester are not eligible to take the exam, nor are those currently taking the class.
The exam will be offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The next offering of the CS 100 Credit by Exam will be in Fall 2023.
Date (tentative): December 23, 2023
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: TBD
The process for registering for Credit By Exam is changing in Fall 2023. Please watch this space for updated instructions when they become available.
Exam Results and Receiving Credit
You will be notified of your exam results via your NJIT email. Note: You will only be notified of your passing or failing score, not your percentile, and you will not have an opportunity to review the exam afterwards.
If you do not score at least 80%, you will not have an opportunity to retake the exam and will be required to take CS 100 at NJIT.
